Shimao Loong Palace-Courtyard: A Seamless Blend of Art, Life, and Nature

Beijing Miland International Design's Award-Winning Landscape Masterpiece

Beijing Miland International Design has created a stunning courtyard that merges art, life, and nature. Drawing inspiration from natural elements, the design team has crafted a space that transitions seamlessly from indoor to outdoor, earning them a Silver A' Landscape Planning and Garden Design Award in 2020.

The Shimao Loong Palace-Courtyard, also known as the Courtyard of Clouds, is a testament to the highest realm of traditional artistic expression. The design was inspired by the flow and change of natural elements such as water, cloud, and light. This inspiration is evident in the organic, flowing curves that facilitate the natural transition of indoor and outdoor spaces, creating a warm and comfortable living courtyard.

The courtyard's unique properties lie in its ability to connect indoor and outdoor spaces, creating a link between art, life, and nature. This connection is further enhanced by the use of virtual reality technology in the design process. The designers combined 2D and 3D drawings with a virtual engine for the most intuitive presentation, ensuring efficient communication among all parties involved and guaranteeing the project's successful implementation.

The Shimao Loong Palace-Courtyard covers a landscape area of about 17,000 square meters, with the deluxe courtyard alone covering a landscape area of 1,120 square meters. The courtyard area is 760 square meters. The project is located on the south bank of the Shangzhuang Reservoir in the northwest of Haidian District, Beijing, and is positioned as a luxury and high-end villa community, providing an elegant home for the urban elite.

Designing the Shimao Loong Palace-Courtyard was not without its challenges. The design team had to overcome the difficulties associated with the widespread use of cantilever design, which posed significant challenges in terms of design form and mechanical accounting of steel structure. Additionally, the creation of a large number of original and customized design elements, from ground pavement to outdoor furniture, required high levels of construction technology and material selection.

Despite these challenges, Beijing Miland International Design succeeded in creating a multi-level, artistic, living, natural courtyard landscape. The integration of an intelligent home management system is also a forward-looking attempt at the future development direction of courtyard landscapes. The Shimao Loong Palace-Courtyard is a shining example of how design can create a harmonious fusion of art, life, and nature.
